SEYMOUR, CT: Henry Picardo, Jr., age 61of Seymour entered peaceful rest on March 18, 2017 at Shady Knoll Health Center after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Wendy (Fredericks) Picardo. Mr. Picardo was born March 28, 1955 in New Haven, son of the late Henry Sr. and Cecelia (Reitano) Picardo. Henry was a graduate of Hillhouse High School, New Haven and the University of Connecticut. Prior to his illness Henry worked as a Buyer for Yale University. Henry loved his job and the many friends he made there; he was loved by many. He was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church. Henry was an authentic person- he never had a negative word to say about anyone. Mr. Picardo faced numerous trials in life with dignity and humor, but without bitterness or resentment. Some of his happiest days were spent vacationing with family on Lake Dunmore in Vermont. Henry was a connoisseur of New Haven Pizza, (Sally's being his favorite). He was a baseball fan in general and a Yankees fan in particular. His family didn't hold this against him. Henry once told Phil Rizzuto that baseball season didn't start for him until he heard his first "Holy Cow!' Henry was a delightful, gentle soul who will be greatly missed for his many attributes. In addition to his wife, Henry leaves sons, James of Seymour, and Andrew of Hamden, as well as his brother Dennis Picardo of East Berlin. He was recently predeceased by his mother-in-law Joetta Fredericks with whom he had a close bond. Henry's family would like to thank the staff at Shady Knoll for the loving care provided to him, with special thanks to his "Shady Knoll Wife", Elaine.
A Memorial Service of Requiem Eucharist in celebration of Henry's life will be held Friday March 31st in Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Church ST., Seymour. There are no calling hours. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour is entrusted with the arrangements.
