OXFORD, CT: Daniel B. "Dan", "Baka" Kovalsky, of Oxford, formerly of Stevenson, Stratford, and Bridgeport entered peacefully into rest at the Griffin Hospital on September, 24, 2016. Dan had lived the last nine years in Oxford with his daughter and her family. He loved the outdoors. You would always find him working in the yard or building stone walls; and he always had his hat on. Dan loved to make potato pancakes on :snow days" with his granddaughters.
Dan was a hard worker all of his life, working as a professional roofer for most of it, and doing maintenance at Unifirst in Stratford. He leaves behind his loving daughter and son-in-law Danielle and Dave Routzahn, his cherished granddaughters, who he loved very much, Sara Routzahn of Fort Collins, CO, and Katie Routzahn of Oxford. He also leaves behind his twin brother, Francis Kovalsky of Front Royal, VA, a sister, June Cuda and brothers Stephen, Gregory, Mark, and Matthew, and many nieces and nephews, and his special niece, Aggie Hoyt. He was recently predeceased by his former wife, Helen Kovalsky. He was predeceased also by his parents, Frank and Helen (Sabo) Kovalsky, and his sister Joan. He will be terribly missed by the family dog, Colby. Dan's family wishes to thank his dear friend, Jim Broward for his many years of daily coffee and Lotto runs; Hurricanes and blizzards never stopped them. The family also wish to thank the wonderful staff at Griffin Hospital; their care for Dan and his family was outstanding.
All services are private. There are no Calling Hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
