For four years in a row Brian has thrown me a surprise party for my birthday, the last one being our engagement party. Every year he would call Grama Chris to invite her and Poppy. Those were the only times he could remember her being excited about staying on the phone. She came every year, arrived early, and always brought something (my sister's request was her strawberry pie). The third year, she showed up thirty minutes early on the doorstep, screaming "Elaine". That is how I found out about the surprise. She always provided lively conversations, went on the boat, and put up with Poppy splashing her. She was an amazing woman.

Another thing that I was just remembering about the picnics in june was marion going into the house and getting the guns to shoot miniature marshmallows. The kids absolutely had a ball with them, especially brandon who always seemed to aim at warren. But the funniest thing was when all the marshmallows were gone all you could see was mallows mallows everywhere, and marion would just smile and smile, it just made her day

I remember training her on her first day. She was originally supposed to be a cashier and she just kept telling me that she didn't like it there was too much pressure. She was so worried about making a mistake. I kept telling her to relax she would be fine but she kept saying she didn't want to do it, she rather just bag, and she thought she was going to quit. I went up to the front-end manager at the time and told him to make her a bagger she would be happier. Thankfully he listened to me and she stayed and worked there for as long as she did. She was a wonderful women to be around always upbeat. She will be missed.

I loved going to Grandma and Poppy Chris' house for parties. Every time someone arrived, she would get so excited. I would get an introduction to every person at the party, regardless of how many times she had already introduced us.

The other thing I recall during the June BD bang is everyone brought a dish and the one thing marion insisted on was that warren would bring brats to cook on the grill. she always said that was one of her favorite dishes. and warren and I will always remember her spunk and the hard fight she fought, that is the one thing that I always admired about her was that the fight she had in her.

Speaking of the June Hoop-de-la, one year, I brought water pistols. Everything was fine and dandy until Yvonne and Dad got carried away. I got yelled at because they wouldn't have had any water pistols if I hadn't brought them. The next year, she said "don't you dare bring any water pistols", so I brought fireworks. She wasn't happy, but it turned out so nice, it became a hoop-de-la tradition. One year, we even had fireworks on Christmas Day because it rained in June so we put them away. On Christmas, Doreen was teasing me about not having any fireworks, when we remembered we still had the ones we didn't use in June. So we lit them in the snow, on Christmas Day. It was really cool. I sure will miss the parties she insisted on throwing. Family was very important to her, as were good friends - she made sure we all got together several times a year and made memories. I hope we can continue her legacy.

How about the time she had everyone up for Thanksgiving. She was bustling around getting everything ready. Dad was outside and he somehow lit himself on fire - didn't notice until he burned the entire crotch out of his pants - good thing he had long-john's on. He came in and showed us and we were all laughing our head's off. except Mom - she was fit to be tied because he ruined a brand new pair of Dickie's - she ripped him but good. After that, instead of asking what time dinner was, we would ask what time the holiday crotch burning would begin.

Montreal was the best time. Karin, Mom and I dropped Jerry off at an island with the boy scouts and we went to Montreal. Karin and I shared a bed, Mom took the other. First, she accidently turned on a channel with full frontal nudity. When she finally found what she wanted to watch, she told Karin to get her big topknot out of the way. We all went to sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to discover Karin touching my butt in her sleep. I slapped her, which woke her up. We were laughing so hard, we woke Mom up. She wanted to know why we were laughing. We told her. She laughed so hard she started farting, which only caused us to laugh more. I'm surprised the people in nearby rooms didn't get us kicked out.

OMG - we took so many fun trips over the years. I remember taking her to Graceland and she had headphones on and everybody was staring at her because she was talking so loud. Philadelphia was so much fun - we took her into a store on South Street - I won't mention the name - but she had so much fun picking out a postcard to send to Arlene to get even for being added to VIP's mailing list. One trip I will never forget - we went to the cliffs in Newport - she walked the whole thing with me - climbed over boulders and along ledges. She was scared, but she did it - the same way as she fought the cancer - with perseverence and everything she had. I was so proud of her then, and I am so proud of the fight she put up - many would have given up - she never did, fighting until the end.

I will never forget the time when warren and I were up to marions and charlies had the stove going full force and warren said gee its hot in here and took his pants off and I thought marion was going to split her sides open from laughing so hard, cause she did not realize that warren had his thermals on, she laughed so hard, she was in tears.

The one fond memory I have of my friend Marion is during the month of June. This is when she would have a huge cookout for all of the birthdays in June, which included her husband Charlie, my husband Warren and her great grandson Christian. Even when she did not feel good she always plugged on to assure the party was enjoyed by all of the birthday people. She truly was a very special lady.

My grandma, sister, and mother had many fun adventures scouting out the best tag sales. It was something my grandmother loved to do. As long as we arrived at her house by 8: 15 am, it began with a visit to Bobby Fritz for breakfast. If we were too late (9 am), we were told we had to skip breakfast since all of the good stuff would be gone. My grandma would insist on giving me directions to the houses, even though I tried to use my gps. When we arrived at each house she would tell the owner all about her family while she shopped. At the end of the day, around 2 pm, we would sneak all of the stuff she bought into the house so my grandfather would not see.
