Shaun was the first person to speak to me, the "new kid" at Hillcrest middle school. He was funny and extremely nice. My sympathies to all he touched.

We are so shocked and saddened to hear of Shaun's passing. My husband, Adam, was a band mate of Shaun's in Vertigozer. Linda, we met once when they played at a Mexican restaurant (I think it was in Stamford?)...I remember how excited Shaun was that you were going to the gig. Shaun was such a character and so talented! Adam and I listen to their recordings every once in a while and talk about what a great story teller Shaun was...Vertigozer was definitely the best band my husband was ever a part of and that was because of Shaun. Shaun still has the Vertigozer web site up and running! I have many videos of Shaun playing out so when the time comes that you would like copies, please let me know. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I send my condolences to Shaun's family and his significant others. I met Shaun at HHG and will always remember and treasure the brief time I spent with him. He was kind to me. Like a big brother. It was my first festival and he made me feel welcome with his good nature and kindness. His memory will be with me always and I am honored to have known him...though brief. May healing and love be with the O'Donnell's and other loved ones in Shaun's circle. BB

Words seem so inadequate at this time. I cannot fathom the depth of your grief. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have missed Shaun being part of our lives. His "off center" sense of the silliness and ability to see the humor in everything was only exceeded by his remarkable musical talent. To be taken so very young is hard, but I am sure he is in a place surrounded with love, laughter and music. He was put here to make us laugh and cry, and did so with his personality, and his music. Words can't express the sadness I feel over the unexpected loss of a friend. I met Shaun about 10 years ago through friends and my life was enriched by having him be a part of if. He was always ready to tell a story or lend an ear if thats what was needed. My sincerest sympathies for his beloved family and Michelle. Surrounding myself with music...seems an appropriate form of comfort right now. Its been playing near constantly since I heard the news, sometimes just in my head. Surprisingly a great deal of it isn't sad--a lot of what I hear are his songs. I remember so many of them, and I loved watching him play out live with the band. I wrap the music around me like a thick blanket surrounding my most vulnerable parts. He holds me safe with familiar progressions. The chords bind me fast anchoring half forgotten lazy afternoon memories in my mind. Shaun was always wonderful about making people feel GOOD, and never treating anyone with anything less than the utmost respect. He was a gentleman...at least MOST of the time. *snicker* He had such a BIG heart, so full of love and compassion--always going one step further for someone than he needed to. My heart will always miss him. I'm woeful about the time we spent apart, at odds. That's precious time I won't ever get back with him and in retrospect I wish things had gone differently. That being said...I'm glad he and I reconnected at HHG this past year and began to mend fences, even if the process was painfully slow. I was 17 when we began dating, we met at Carlene and Shane's wedding...when he enthusiastically offered to help lace me into my bodice. I admit I was quickly swept up in the whirlwind of the Bard. His quick wit and even quicker smile touched my heart, and until then I really had no concept of what love really was. He was my teacher, my lover, my love, my song, my light in the void, but most of all my best friend. Its really hard separating from someone when you are the only one who can see the damage that's being done by being together. No one ever loved me like he did and I daresay that no one will love me like that ever again. But then he was Shaun so that in and of itself makes it special, one of a kind, and unforgettable. A brilliant light is gone from this world, and we are truly poorer for it. My thoughts, my prayers, and my heart go out to Michelle, his Mum Linda, his Father Ed, his brother, and his closest friends. I wish I could be there to celebrate his remarkable existence but know I am thinking of you all from afar.

I was very sorry to hear the news about Shaun. I understand that he was performing at the time of his passing, and I thought that it was anything but ironic that it happened that way. I had fallen out of touch with Shaun over the years, but I remember him as being incredibly inventive and lively in humor and story. The O'Donnell family will be in my prayers.

Shaun and I were very close in high school. We spent hours and hours on the phone -- sometimes staying up all night as Shaun would regale me with funny stories about himself, the dreams he'd had the night before, or the dreams he had for the future. We did a lot of fun, goofy stuff together; the memories could almost literally fill a book. He was there for me during some rough times. I always felt better after a wacky serenade and a big hug from Shaun. He was truly one of a kind. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched and made more vibrant.
