Dominick F. Mavelli, born Copiague, Long Island, NY 10/29/25 crossed the bar 2/15/23. Graduated Brooklyn Automotive High school, US Navy 1944-46 combat veteran Pacific theater aircraft carrier USS Hornet CV-12. FDNY 1951-1987 retired as Captain, last command 304 Engine, Queens Village. To his regret he had foregone GI Bill for college upon his honorable post WWII discharge , but he made up for it later in life by achieving RN, BSN Hunter Bellevue, taking part in the inaugural program in the mid ‘70’s where qualified NYPD/FDNY were admitted to the Hunter Bellevue Nursing program.

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Muriel (Weis), parents Fred and Assunta (Giorgetti) brothers Charles and Victor (Ventrano), Granddaughter Heather Rodriguez (Platin). Survived by son Jeffrey and his wife Nikki, Granddaughter Ally Doyon (Mavelli) and her husband Josh and 2 great-granddaughters Lena Josephine and Hanna Dominique, daughter Donna Lee (Platin), Granddaughter Kristin Rizzo (Platin) and great granddaughter Hayley Rodriguez. He loved his family, his country, being a firefighter, fishing for Walleyes in the Adirondacks and for Flounder on the south shore of Long Island, repairing his car and anything that went wrong in the house.

A Funeral Service in celebration of Dominick’s life will be held Saturday February 18, 2023 at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Mountain Meadows Cemetery.
