Obituary for Paul D. Thorpe

SEYMOUR: Paul D. Thorpe, age 66 of Seymour, beloved husband of Robin (Carlson) Thorpe, entered peaceful rest in his residence surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Born in New Haven on August 17, 1956, he was a son of the late Gary J. Thorpe and Alyce (Bush) Wells of Seymour.

Growing up in Seymour, Paul was involved in many local activities. He also was a member of the Emerald Cadets of New Haven Drum Corp, as well as a member of the Mt. Southington Ski Patrol. However, his passion was with the Citizens Engine Fire Company #2 of Seymour, following in both his father and grandfather’s footsteps, where he volunteered for over 40 years, becoming Captain from 1998 through 1999 and then Chief from 2000 through 2006. He was also a member of the Red Knights MCC. Mr. Thorpe was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and nieces.

In addition to his mother, Alyce and her husband Thomas, and wife, Robin, of 6 years, survivors include his loving step-children, Daniel Kowalczyk and Christina Kowalczyk; brothers, Gary Thorpe and his wife Diane of ME, and James Thorpe and his wife Karen of Seymour; 3 cherished granddaughters, Olivia, Grace and McKenzie Daley, as well as his loving nieces and nephews, Stephanie Matthai, Sara Thorpe, Ian Thorpe and Aidan Thorpe.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 9:30am to 11:30am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT 06483. Funeral Services will take place at 11:30am in the funeral home and interment will follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
