Obituary for Eleanor Elizabeth "Ellie" Cooke (Onidi)

DERBY– Eleanor “Ellie” (Onidi) Cooke, age 73 of Derby, beloved wife of William “Bill” Cooke, entered peaceful rest on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Griffin Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Bristol on March 25, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Ermin and Dorothy (Stewart) Onidi.

A graduate of Seymour High School, Class of 1964, Ellie worked for Hitchcock Chair Co. as a stenciler and as a compositor at the Evening Sentinel. Ellie loved to travel and went on many cruises with Bill. She loved online gaming and was known as “Sweety” in World of Warcraft.

In addition to her beloved and devoted husband of 51 years, survivors include her loving daughters, Beth Kosko (Bill) and Audra Cooke (Renee Bailey); siblings, Ray Onidi (Janet) of Beacon Falls, Helen Bouchard (Norman) of FL, Cindy Beauchmin (Paul) of Naugatuck, and Ed Downs of West Hartland; brother-in-law, Mike Mazzarella of Southbury, as well as many nieces, nephews,extended family, and dear friends she met along her journey. Ellie was predeceased by her sister, Susan Mazzarella.

Ellie shared her positive smile, kindness,inspiration and contagious laugh with everyone. Ellie served as a role model, extended aunt a “grandmother.”She will be sorely missed by all.

The Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour, CT 06483 has been entrusted with her arrangements, and all services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the family in Ellie’s honor.
