Obituary for Roger Philip Kiehl

Roger Philip Kiehl, 89 of Oxford unexpectedly passed away on March 13, 2023. Roger leaves his beloved wife of 70 years, Virginia (Cassidy) Kiehl and four children; Craig Kiehl and wife Jackie (Coy ) Kiehl of Gordonsville, TN, Cindy (Kiehl) Cadoret and husband Robert Cadoret of Oxford, Laurie (Kiehl) Hoyt and husband Robert Hoyt of Naugatuck, Sherry (Kiehl) Yagovane of Largo, FL.

Roger was born to Charles and Carrie (Busk) Kiehl and has 2 deceased siblings: John Kiehl and Rowena (Kiehl) Miller.

Roger & Virginia Kiehl proudly have 7 grandchildren: Melissa Kiehl, Jason Kiehl, Craig Kiehl Jr., Kaitlyn & Kenneth Cadoret, Rebekah (Hoyt) Segarra and Taylor (Yagovane) Roosen and 7 Great Grandchildren: Bella, Grace, Vivienne, Jocelyn, Dominic, Cameron and Zachary, and many nieces and nephews.

Roger proudly served in the army during the Korean conflict. Stationed with the 91st Engineering company as a light vehicle driver. Utilizing the skills he learned in the Army, Roger used them by delivering feed and grain to local farms, picked up milk from area dairy farms and brought it for processing and he also drove school buses for Oxford and Seymour students. He worked as a machinist and retired from Farrel Corporation after 35 years of employment where he served as a Union Representative and belonged to The Old Timers Club.

Roger loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews and enjoyed camping, picnicking and playing cards with family and friends. Roger and Virginia were avid UConn Husky basketball fans and cheered them on thru every game! He always kept the yard and grounds at their home in picture perfect shape. Roger’s main goal in his life was protecting, supporting and loving his family.

Visiting Hours are Sunday March 19th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Memorial Service in celebration of Roger’s life will immediately follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can go to Seymour-Oxford Food Bank at P.O.
