Obituary for Edith "Edie" Fanton (McDermott)

Edith Fanton, of Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 6th after a long battle with lung disease. Edie was born in Stamford, CT, grew up in Pompton Lakes, NJ and raised her family in New Jersey and Shelton, CT. She worked as a Legal Secretary, Medical Assistant and finished her career as a Manager for the McDonald’s in Seymour. Edie was defined by the love and friendship she offered to all who knew her, by her dedication to looking after her “four boys” and by her unconditional love for her eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Michael Pedersen of Hartford, CT, Karl Pedersen and his wife Kimberly Komlos-Pedersen of Terryville, CT, Brian Pedersen and his partner Anne Stewart of Columbia, CT, and Martin Pedersen of Glens Falls, NY. Edie also leaves behind her brothers, James McDermott and wife Bette of Bethlehem, PA, Robert McDermott and wife Alicia Alvarez McDermott of Montebello, CA, and Edward McDermott and wife Barbara of Mason, OH as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Edie was predeceased by her husband Arthur Fanton of Seymour, CT and her parents James and Helen McDermott originally of Pompton Lakes, NJ and Middlebury, CT.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will take place on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour, CT 06484. Family and friends may greet the family Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
