Obituary for James Thomas Godkin

SEYMOUR, CT: James Thomas Godkin, age 63 of Seymour entered into peaceful rest on January 28, 2018 at his home. Mr. Godkin was born March 26, 1954 in Derby, son of the late James Paul and Emily (Clark) Godkin. He was a 1972 graduate of Seymour High School where he played football, and was a co-captain of the team. James received a degree in air transportation management from the University of New Haven and BA in A & P Mechanics from East Coast Aero Technical College. He was an accomplished airplane and jet mechanic and also held a private pilot's license. James held many positions during his career, one of which was working for American Express, where he flew worldwide working as the chief airplane mechanic and flight attendant on the private jet of the CEO.. James retired from Embraer Executive Jet Services at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks in 2014. Jim also loved riding and repairing motorcycles, "and could fix anything". He enjoyed many motorcycle road trips throughout the US and Canada during his lifetime. He later worked with Daniel Moran Construction Co.

James leaves his loving family including his sister, Linda Sheehy (Bill) of Shelton, a brother, John Godkin (Carrie) of South Sutton, NH, nephews, Robert (Jennifer) and Timothy Godkin of NH, and nieces, Dawn Godkin of MA and Jennifer Sheehy Lyke (Kenneth) of Milford, and many friends. Jim also leaves his "Best Friend" of many years, Dan Moran (Ellen) of Seymour.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour.
