Muriel Mavelli, age 89 of Oxford, beloved wife of Dominick Mavelli, entered peaceful rest in Griffin Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mildred (Snedeker) Weis. Muriel met her husband as a teenager in Brooklyn, and soon married after he returned home from WWII, enjoying 68 years together. Later in life, she graduated from the State University of NY (Stonybrook) earning her Masters degree in nursing and worked as a Psych-Nurse Practitioner until her retirement. Originally from Long Island, she moved to Oxford in 2005 and enjoyed sewing and cooking and being with her granddaughters and great granddaughters. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her cherished son, Jeff Mavelli and his wife Dominique; daughter, Donna Mavelli; three adored grandchildren, Alexandra Doyon and her husband Joshua, (great granddaughter Lena Josephine) Kristen Platin, and Heather Rodriguez and her husband Wesley (great granddaughter Haley). Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour. Interment will follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Calling hours will be Monday from 3-7 p.m.
