Obituary for Richard A. Ryan

Richard A. Ryan, age 76 of Prospect, (formerly of Oxford) beloved husband of Barbara (Zarnowski) Ryan, entered peaceful rest surrounded by family on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at River Glen Health Care in Southbury. Born in Derby on October 27, 1939, he was a son of the late Joseph Howard and Eleanor (Sullivan) Ryan). A retired foreign language teacher at Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport, Mr. Ryan also held the position of Dean of Discipline at Bishop Kenny High School and served as Deacon at the NAS Naval Air Station, both in Jacksonville, FL. In addition to his wife of 51 years, survivors include his loving children, Steven Ryan and his wife Sheila of VA, Karen Terni and her husband David, Jr. of Prospect, and Christine Ryan of Watertown; sister, Barbara McCoy of Ansonia; 6 cherished grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Howard and Patrick Ryan. Interment was held at the convenience of the family and arrangements were entrusted to Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour.
